Canelo Alvarez fought Miguel Vasquez twice at 140

Future Lightweight Champion Miguel Vasquez. Canelo beat him twice at the aged of 15. Just watched Vasquez interview. And I was looking for the fights on youtube.

I remember Titere Vasquez, is the guy still active?

He's washed up now, but in his prime he was no joke.

he's one of those featherfisted but very tricky fighters with a style that makes everyone look bad

In his prime, Titere only ever lost to 2 fighters, Canelo and Tim Bradley, and Timbo is a HOF caliber fighter

the fact that ginger beat him twice, when he was more green than a cucumber, is another proof of how great Canelo is as a fighter

    all hail the ginger prodigy

Yeah, I think I recall reading many posts saying that Vasquez should've won the first one. Haven't seen either one myself though.

yea, he was in the same vein as Carlos Molina, who also fought JCC jr twice in his early days

both drew controversially and then lost to Canelo and JCC jr

they were both pretty good, its too bad they never got anywhere

I heard some thought Vasquez won the first one which is why they had the rematch, but then apparently Canelo clearly won the second time.

Reminds me of the Golovkin fights.

Why wasnt he in his prime at around age 27 when he lost to Bey and mendez?

He got bad decisions over Vasquez though, so it's not a highlight for him, more of a blip if anything.

Imo his prime ended when he switched trainers and picked that Capetillo guy who modified his style and ruined his footwork

Titere dumped the guy eventually and blamed him for a lot of his woes, including inactivity

Vasquez should have won the fight with Bey or at least gotten a draw

He could've beaten Mendez too if it wasn't for a point deduction.

How do you know? There's no footage of the first fight (it was ginger's 3rd pro fight), and I think there was only a short clip of the second one on yt, so unless you're from Canelo's hometown and watched the fights live, you don't know what happened

The only guy actively claiming Canelo got "gift decissions" is Vasquez himself lol
