  • Comments Thread For: Romero-Marinez: WBA Exploring Possibility of Ordering Rematch

World Boxing Association President Gilberto Mendoza is considering the scenario of ordering a rematch between Rolando Romero (12-0, 10 KOs) and Jackson Marinez (19-1, 7 KOs). The two boxers collided for the interim-WBA lightweight title on Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, with a controversial ending that rubbed fans the wrong way.

I support a rematch. Let's see how Rolly does without a headbutt affecting him.

Horrible Decision. Marinez should have won by UD. This is why Boxing is not a respected sport

How is there not gonna be a formal investigation in this?

That 118-110 will most likely be the "straw that broke the camel's back" if a rematch is indeed ordered. That judge messed up the fix!

Mr. Mendoza, if you want to the right thing, have these judges terminated and investigated for criminal activity: Glenn Feldman (Avon, Conn.), Frank Lombardi (Brookfield, Conn.), Don Trella (Noank, Conn.) Then, reverse the bogus decision and award the correct decision, declare Marinez the winner. You can make it RIGHT!

Rolly got cut by a punch in the 8-9 round? Can’t use that as an excuse for been so weak, not having a boxing iq or another strategy besides trying to end the fight with a lucky punch, marinez took rolly’s power good..and if he was running like rolly said, why rolly didn’t cut the ring to get to him? Very simply: Rolly does not have a skill set of a champion and probably never will..honestly he does not have nothing to show he belongs with the 135 division champs .absolutely nothing! And for those who said he has power,he does not have it at the elite level,

I’m with it. Mariñez deserves it with a decent payday at low risk being how much he dominated,

Romero is more bark then bite. He food again in a rematch.

You are right. Fighters should be able to adapt and be able to react under any conditions. Lara vs canelo comes to mind, even one judge saw the fight 118-110 for ginger. Same thing happened with floyd, one judge saw a draw. And they still judging fights.
