  • Did anyone else notice...

That besides the fact that he was screaming No holding when they were actually boxing. But did anyone notice that at the opening bell of the 12th, Rahman did not get up and Nady went to get him.

After the first few seconds, Nady called a Time Out, riped Rahmans tape off and told him to go to his corner to re-tape, allowing Rahman more time to rest.

I have never seen the ref untaping the boxer's glove. How crazy was that?

Jay Nady was **** in that fight. That was the definition of bias reffing.

I didn't catch Nady going to Rahman's corner, but, yes, the tape thing was sordid.

But, if Nady's intention was to hep Rahman as it seems to have been, Nady did a disservice. It looked to me like Maskaev planned to coast in the last round and was even on his toes jabbing, before Nady halted the action to rip off the tape. The pause, I think, gave Maskaev the idea that he should instead try and take Rahman out instead of just jab away. So, he tried. Seeing the effect, he gave it his all.

        Poetic justice.

I really use to like Jay Nady but seeing him and reading about him how he handled this fight changes my views on him. Absolute garbage. He can go and join that other fool Joe Cortez.

          Mitch Halpern...that was a good ref. R.I.P.

Steve Smoger is another good one...

this was the first time i've seen a ref in a heavyweight fight who's so strict and was always shouting "no holding". i wondered how would jay nady going to officiate a fight like say a muhammad ali fight. was there a lot of holding in this fight? i don't think there was a lot.

when you promote the fight as the last standing american champ and you get a patriotic ref that always salutes to the cameras. you just know that hes gonna be biased
