I’m trying to think of the last time we saw someone with this much talent in the past few years lose his title on the scales. Not just marginal talent, I’m talking very good to great talent. Was it only Tank Davis?? But one of the greatest fighters in history actually missed weight and paid a heavy fine. Some thought it was an intentional Strategic move to be the bigger fighter on fight night, others thought it wasn’t. Who was it, hint 2009???

And Mr Sharpe was 100% correct!
At his age, and with discipline (that he is questionable on), Benevidez can probably get down to 168 again. But the wise move would be to man up and move to 175.

It was genius! Nobody wants to fight Benavidas before. Now with an open belt those will be looking to get it will have to fight Benavidas. But only those with a pair. The other champs are nursing their belts in the easiest division in boxing. It's almost embarrasing. No unified champ in that division. Seems one could have them all if there was any confidence among the belt holders. Benavidez excluded. He is the only one who is willing to risk it. Although not that much of a risk.

Nah Homie coming in 3lbs heavy and weight drained doesn't make it "EASY" to beat somebody at 168. How is 3lb of fat going to help any man easily beat any fighter? That is an idiotic logic and doesn't make any sense, Benavidez got the victory based on his skills. Not because he had 3 lb of fat on his stomach

No way. Surpassed by Ortiz? How? Yea he looks like the real deal but he hasn't even fought in a title eliminator yet. Benavidez already been a world champ twice and he's only a year older. He's accomplished some things not many fighters do at his age. Regardless of his self-inflicted transgressions outside of the ring, the young man is a stud in the ring. He's still got a long career ahead of him and the way he looks in there, he'll be a champion again in no time. Hope he can still make SMW somehow for the big fights in the division, but it might just look like it's that time to move up to LHW.
