Money, Boxing Heavyweight Champion v NFL

As has been stated several times, the reason America's heavyweight division is so pathetic is that all the best athletes of that size are in the NFL.

Do NFL players get paid that much ?

Surely being heavyweight champ would get you more money than the NFL ?

Or is it the fact that the guaranteed money is a lot more ? meaning there might be 100 places in the NFL where you can earn good money but you have to be Top 3 in the world at boxing to earn really good money.

Well, that and most people have the perception that boxers end up being brain dead fools when their career is done, and people don't want that. In the NFL you get to wear a helmet, which I'm sure is a big selling point compared to boxing. Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, football, in a lot of places, is just as big a part of life as religion.

Its a shame that russians aren't interested in US football too..
or just eastern euros in general..Just imagine if a guy like Mariusz Pudzianowski would've trained in this sport!

yes. football is one of the most popular sports in the US. they can fill out stadiums with 50,000+ people every single game. I love football, and i have loved since i was a little kid.

its my favorite sport right under boxing.

But i have to admit that baseball, hockey, and basketball would be a lot more popular if they had their games once a week instead of 4 times a week

Yeah a top ranked heavy might make a much as a NFL player or more . But heres the thing being a champion boxer or even a top ranked is a billion to 1 chance . Most fighters hold down a full time job just so they can train but the worst NFL player makes 100 K a year . Top that all off with merchandise sales, royalties from video games .Not to mention that most NFL players get a free ride threw collage, who was the last fighter to get a scholarship for boxing ? So in the end the NFL players come out on top with more to gain for less work and they also get guaranteed money each year of the contract .In the NFL you could make a million a year and never play one game , a boxer must box to make money . So there for the NFL is a better career move in the end and that is why our heavyweights are there .
