Quite a few fighters do though!
As Benevidez himself acknowledged, it's on him but, given the restrictions in gym time + no sauna or hot bath facility available ( both things that fighters use to cut weight) then I can see how he missed.

I don’t even think it’s the fact of discipline , honestly
I believe he’s outgrown the division
Reality is gonna have to kick in sometime
Or what’s the use of having divisions
That said , I really hope it’s not discipline

Most fighters don't fight anywhere close to there natural weight and have to cut 20 or 25 pounds in such a short time.

That means it's time to move up.

Nope....boxers box...Champions make weight every time they step in the scale. If he is no longer sweating and can’t make weight then it’s time to move up. Otherwise you’re then talking about heat stroke then death. You don’t get unlimited chances to make weight. You either are a disciplined champion or not. You can’t have both.

Actually not dumb at all. There’d be mass deaths due to heat strokes if they were allowed with boxers trying to cut weight.

I mean... if you literally cannot drop more weight, maybe it's time to go up in weight...

Your comment makes it even more dumb. All the more reason why they are NOT performance enhancing yet they are considered PEDs.

I guess it can be argued that cutting weight unnaturally is an unfair advantage but imo the person taking them puts themselves in a negative predicament. Shi-ting your brains out to lose weight drains your body Of energy & dehydrates the hell out of you. Your body has to work extra hard to replenish those hydration levels. So yeah you’ll probably make weight but at what cost ?

But seriously - for those that actually DO box. There are supplements that basically act like super laxatives. Are those flagged in drug testing?
                    Yes.

Chavez Jr. got suspended for Diuretics (make you piss more/lose water)
