Comments Thread For: Loma: Lopez Fight Will Be Like Sparring - Thanks For Doing The Talking, Promoting!

A fight between Vasiliy Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez was momentarily on the ropes earlier this month, but cooler heads and an extra infusion of cash have prevailed, and the highly anticipated match is officially back on the burner and scheduled to take place on either Oct. 17 or Oct. 24 on ESPN, it was confirmed Thursday.

Clickbait title. Loma said that boxing without fans will feel like sparring because of no audience, not that fighting Teofimo will be like sparring. It would have been a ****** but fun story if he actually said that, but... he didn't.

I hope Lopez wins this fight in dramatic fashion. Might be wishful thinking but boxing needs a new star. Canelo isn't doing anything worthwhile, Crawford can't land a fight with any meaningful welterweight, pac is ancient, Joshua and wilder both lost their spark after embarrassing losses. It's time for a new wave of stars and hopefully they'll be more capable of making fights with one another than this past group has done of making the best fights available.

Correct, I watched the video where he said all this a while ago, its recent, but not new.

Only thing that crossed my mind later was that as he was thanking Teo for doing all the promotion, just maybe that justified pushing a bit of his purse across the table to him. But whatever, the fight is on and that's the main thing.

Loma might actually be correct on this.

I still haven't seen anything shockingly amazing from Lopez involving the competition he's faced. He has pop, but so did plenty others. Loma doesn't go in there to let you hit him on his face, not unless he gets over confident and careless (Linares).

Loma is going to make Lopez miss all over the place, get in his face with punches from all the weird angles. Lopez just might end up throwing in the towel like all the others when he realizes he can't land anything and is being tagged from every angle possible.

Loma is one of the most overrated hype jobs I have ever seen.

Boxing/boxers would have to get use to the “No crowd” thing. I think it would be a good thing for judges as well, they wouldn’t feel the pressure of the home crowd or the favourite boxers having to be given a decision.

That's exactly what boringchenko said before the Linares fight and got knocked on his ass. He's lucky that he got up and still won the fight 🥊

If this fight is going to be like a sparring session, Vasily is in big trouble. Here we have Ryan Garcia telling ESNEWS that he dominated Vasily sparring. Lomachenko did not want anymore after three rounds and sent Ryan home.

Teofimo is twice the fighter that Ryan is, so, if it took Ryan three rounds I can see Lopez doing Lomachenko the same way he did Richard Commey in 2.
