Is it bad to dip my right hand for sparring? (Video)

What do you guys think? One dude made a point that sinking telegraphs it in advance, is more karate-esque, and recommended that I cut it out.. Another dude argued that dude and said that real power can't be generated without sinking....and thought I did it right.

What is Boxing Scene forum take on dipping right hands? I tried to look around and Ruiz and Mike Tyson dips on occassion but most boxers surprisingly don't, overall..

And third.. “dipping” a right hand isn’t a standard. The example you uploaded can be a counter while you’re slipping the other’s shot. There are different heights of opponents as well the shot you demonstrated means nothing tbh without context... and referring to “power” makes me believe you are a Hearn intern that plays with fire in basements

The answer is it depends on your style and your intention.

When I box I use a lomachneko dip where ill dip to the right. It does telegraph things and people can catch it. Sometimes I even dip my hands as you say.

The thing is though is that you just have to be aware that you're doing it. Sometimes you can bait opponents to throw the kind of punches you want. You leave an opening to make your opponent believe they are safe.

From that dipped position I can bait opponents to throw jabs that I can counter. It also sets up throwing a lead straight left combination. Hooks to the body or head.

I combo this set up a lot with how Canelo throws his leads hooks. A lot of the time he throws it low to hide his intentions. That way mid throw you can choose head or body shot.

My best punch is my lead right hook. Compact and easy to pivot into and away.

I don't know what that means but I would like to see you throw a better right hand. it wasn't speeded up.

oh I am aware of it and it does seem to generate more explosiveness than non dips, so that's why I tend to do them shadow boxing.

Maybe I should have been clearer.. Is it bad to dip the right hand when going for head level, against a similar height opponent? You obviously dip for the body.

I punch so fast that it might not matter but I'm still curious...

Shane never dips the right hand and he's got good fundamentals.
