Why wait so long?. Why not just take 2 years out why 6 years?
Because knee injuries don’t simply improve with time. His hope was that medical procedures could drastically improve, which I doubt have occurred during these six years. Simply put Maravilla will never be the same again after that 12th round injury against Chavez Jr.
That would actually be pretty good. I don't think Oscar will ever come back though. Even vs a guy like Sergio. He said years ago when he was training for a potential comeback that his body "wasnt responding" to the training _ ultimately decided that he wouldn't be able to come back. Dudes been out of the ring 12 years, been thru wars in his day, abuse his body with drugs and alcohol in retirement & is nearing his 50s. Any talk of him coming back is just talk. Probably is sober and working out, probably feels like he's in better shape than he's been in a while - he would soon realize the difference between in shape and in fighting shape
Those are all good points and if anything they could face each other in a 3-4 round exhibition, or maybe even the same setup as Mike Tyson and Roy Jones

I agree. At the very least, I hope he gets through the fight in two weeks healthy with a W, & realizes he shouldn’t continue.
Yeah I feel the same, if he is gonna do it hopefully he gets the win. I know it's hard for him to have his career end with the Cotto fight. I am sure he would like his last fight be remembered as a win.
Sadly I agree. He was never the same after that knee injury. I hope he goes out on a win, realizes he can call it a day, and rides off into the sunset on a high note.
Pulling for the same. I hated seeing how the Cotto fight played out. Not that I hate Cotto but to see Martinez in such bad condition ******.
