Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez Does Not Rule Out Future Crack at Ryota Murata

Former two division champion Sergio Martinez, 45-years-old, does not rule out the possibility of one day going after a world title. But all of that will depend on what he's capable of doing in his comeback fight, and then a few more solid contests. Martinez will snap a six year retirement when he returns to the ring on August 21, facing Jos Miguel Fandio in a contest take place in Cantabria, Spain.

What made you real good is long gone. Don't try the comeback.

I agree. At the very least, I hope he gets through the fight in two weeks healthy with a W, & realizes he shouldn’t continue.

The most important thing is that Martinez said "I will try with all the desire in the world" and "if I don't do it right, then I will thank everyone and find a television series to act on".

He wants to give it one more shot and I'm sure he will know within the first minute or so if he belongs in the ring or not. If he doesn't then it's up to the ref and his corner to step in if he's too brave for his own good.

I think Sergio Martinez should face Oscar De La Hoya. Both are well into their 40's and they seem to be in the same boat. Plus neither should be looking to face top guys at this point

Sadly I agree. He was never the same after that knee injury. I hope he goes out on a win, realizes he can call it a day, and rides off into the sunset on a high note.

That would actually be pretty good. I don't think Oscar will ever come back though. Even vs a guy like Sergio. He said years ago when he was training for a potential comeback that his body "wasnt responding" to the training _ ultimately decided that he wouldn't be able to come back. Dudes been out of the ring 12 years, been thru wars in his day, abuse his body with drugs and alcohol in retirement & is nearing his 50s. Any talk of him coming back is just talk. Probably is sober and working out, probably feels like he's in better shape than he's been in a while - he would soon realize the difference between in shape and in fighting shape

Murata? Damn Martinez is crazy. Lol. I like that though. At least all the Argentinians on the forum have something to truly brag about instead of sweating GGG as if he were born from Buenos Aires. Weird ass fans
