being 15 pounds over fight weight isn't carrying "20lbs of flab"It is when you consider guys like Calzaghe, Jones, Hopkins and Ward never allowed themselves to go above 185 walking around. Most super middles get in the ring at about 178.Yeah,20lb of flab is lacking discipline. Theres no advantage to it. What do you think is acceptable for a super middle. 210,220? Come on, it's called eating too much and getting fat.
it's not even 15lbs of flab. And again, he's clearly just eaten in that photo. It's why his stomach is sticking out.
Most guys enter camp needing to cut about 20lbs. That's average among guys who DON'T blow up between fights. Twenty pounds. Average Light Heavyweights walk around at about 195-200lbs between fights. That's in shape.Comment

Well I've heard of quite a few super middles, and few walked around at 200.Jones and Calzaghe say they walked around at 185.The get in the ring at 178.Froch walked around at 180, got in the ring at 172.The only one i remember walking round at 196 as super middle champ was Toney, who said it was a struggle making weight. Anthony Yarde walks around at 192, the same as Lou Devalle did. They are massive for 175. This walking around thing is nonsense. It's eating badly and not too smart. It's 32 lb down to the weigh in. There's no advantages and no reason to do it. Done right theres no need to dehydrate the way some of them do, precisely because they don't have enough time to lose weight and maintain strength and energy.being 15 pounds over fight weight isn't carrying "20lbs of flab"
