They’re obviously still talking behind the scenes and any public comments are made to both sway and gauge the public hence the “if lopez doesn’t smarten up and take out offer we’ll just go and fight verdejo”. Lopez’s manager made similar to the media about Lopez taking fighting his mandatory and revisiting g the fight later. This is how negotiations go dummy. Both sides are posturing trying to get the other to cave. Whether one of them will cave to the other is yet to be determined.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a guaranteed purse, not necessarily a cap. I assume he'll get a percentage of the revenue generated from commercials. That ESPN will have a target of projected commercial revenue, and anything over that will be portioned and partitioned out to the boxers. Haha. I completely agree. It's crazy to bite the hand that feeds him. He had the opportunity of having an interim fight before going into the Loma fight so that the fight could be pushed out for when there'd likely be a live gate. He didn't want that, and then he said he's fine without live crowds. So to me this is just a massive duck. He got cold feet.

I know people say boxers don't get scared about fighting other boxers, that if there's a problem, then it's due to the money. But I think we all know that's not true. We've seen boxers get plenty scared. In fact, I've seen Lopez look scared as hell. In an interview, they asked him about Loma, and immediately he started yawning uncontrollably and had to hide his eyes from the camera. He hadn't yawned before or afterward, and the interview was during the middle of the day. But somehow at the mere mention of Loma's name, He has to hide his face—his eyes—from the camera. Yawning is an inadvertent way of dealing with high levels of anxiety. It just happens.

Also, most of his trash talking, about how Loma is scared, that Loma wants a tune-up, Loma this and Loma that, occurred when Loma was in the Ukraine, when the fight looked as if it weren't going to happen. Then, as soon as he finds out that Loma is back, all that goes out the window. Now he doesn't want to fight. But he knew there wasn't going to be a live gate. He said he was fine with that. So what the hell is the problem now? Know what I mean?

Anyway, I'm whinging. I had been looking forward to this fight for so long. So I'm beyond irritated with Lopez. I honesty believed he was all about getting in the ring. I hope we hear something good by end of tomorrow.

Thanks for clearing up the contract issue. I wasn't sure how that was going to work. Maybe these guys can get innovative in negotiations and make this a win/win so Lopez signs.

Well, if Lopez is asking for 3M, then that is unreasonable. And he should not look at what Lomachenko is making as Lomachenko gets that for every fight. If Lopez is asking for say 2M? Then that is fine. They can meet at 1.6-1.8M to make the fight happen.

I doubt they give him more than 1.4 or 1.5.
