GGG offered Rosario a catchweight of 157 and fought Rolls at a catchweight of 164. Canelo won the MW belt at 155 and wanted to defend it there but GGG refused any catchweights. Talk about hypocrisy.
The draw in the 1st fight should've been a 7-5 GGG win but the 2nd fight wasnt controversial. It was just a close fight that went the other way. GGG fired his own trainer for agreeing with the judges...that's how boxing goes sometimes.
So Canelo didnt wait anyone out...he moved at his own pace and offered the fight but Borat refused. Canelo got a favorable draw, not a gift, and the rematch couldve gone either way.
Rather than complain about your preferred fighter NOT getting the decision be HAPPY we have such great classic fights to rewatch. Also, anything good Canelo does reflects VERY WELL on GGG and vice versa.Last edited by Jab jab boom; 08-03-2020, 09:45 AM.Comment

Weird how all the toughest competition he has faced has all been in the exact same place huh?
Weird how GGG said you can fight at MSG and Canelo flat out said no and tabled negotiations over that point alone. But now he wants to fight GGG at the tender age of 39 lmfao. You think its going to be in Vegas? Lmaooooo
Weird how he could have already chosen to fight all over the world prior but just now realized that the world is bigger than the US and Mexico right?
Weird how he is demanding his full purse still during these times and for the first time in his life will be fighting outside North America.
Can't wait for the threads where Canelo goes to the UK to fight BJS/Callum smith and you guys cry when they demand more money because they are the local guys and people are going to see them, not Canelo.
Then watch all you guys justify how Canelo is worth 35 million and that the local guys aren't drawing no one and aren't worth 5 million lmfaooo
Too funny.
Regarding GGG, it is not Canelo who wants to fight GGG. He has publicly said he does not want to fight him. DAZN has put a lot of pressure on him to fight Golovkin, among other things by refusing to stream other fights -- in my view better fights for Canelo. Remember Oscar and Golden Boy also pressured Canelo for a trilogy with GGG.
Canelo is demanding to be paid what his contract calls for, which is a guaranteed minimum approximately $33 million, DAZN's position is that they can't afford to pay that amount absent a live audience and sponsorship money. But they just signed a multi-year, multi-billion dollar deal with the German soccer leave to stream their Friday games. So that strongly suggest they do have money.
As to whether or not DAZN is overpaying Canelo, value like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I won't opine on that, but will say that in my view, DAZN made a bad contract that was ill conceived and I think that DAZN is poorly run. The sooner Canelo ditches both DAZN and Golden Boy the better.Comment

He does not win only because of Vegas. He is an excellent fighter. But it would be moronic to pretend that he is not extended a preferential treatment. Which, I don't believe, will necessarily be limited only to Vegas.Comment

Lol. Canelo haters are the best. For years criticizing him that he doesn’t want to fight anywhere but in Vegas, but did so in Texas and MSG (sold out). Now headlines says he’d fight outside the USA and the Mexican haters come up with narratives that have nothing to do with it.Comment

Every star in any sport gets preferential treatment. Do you know how easy it was for Michael Jordan to get free throws? Just a nick or small pull from his jersey got him to the free throw line. Dozens of players in the finals would shake their heads when the referee called the foul. ALL REFS were BIASED to MJ because he was the real deal. Judges like Canelo’s style. The guy been fighting for a long time and only casuals believe Canelo isn’t impressive in the ring. Canelo is a complete fighter. These terms are rare and reserved for the very best. Boxers and trainers say that about Canelo. I always say, why would industry or pros do Canelo any favors to say those things? It’s because Canelo is the real deal. Took him years to get there.Comment

I am not sure what your point is. You are right insofar as he has fought his toughest competition in Las Vegas, because the Casinos are able to outbid the competition for big fights. Neither side is going to leave money on the table -- let alone both sides. It is about the money. If you are suggesting Canelo's fights are rigged, then share your evidence with the Nevada Attorney General. If you are suggesting that judges give the benefit of the doubt to the so called "A" side, then you have to look Mayweather and other cash cows and see if that is the case. Again, NYC cannot compete financially with Nevada, in addition to the big bucks that the Casinos can put up for a fight, NYC has among the highest taxes in the nation. Nevada does not have and income tax.

Yet you think I can prove that there is corruption and that someone will actually do something about it if I did?
Lmfao.
All you need to do to prove the corruption is read the score cards from his toughest fights. Its pretty easy and ask if you believe he would have reviewed favorable cards like that elsewhere.
As for Mayweather? Absolutely he got a hell lot of favoritism. Why do you think Canelo tries so hard to copy his daddy?
Then you make excuses that its money. But he also fought elsewhere for money too. So which one is it?
Could have fought GGG at MSG and with a clear win would have shut up his doubters and cemented his legacy. But instead his legacy looks like this.
Camped at 155 till GGG slipped
Got humilated in GGG 1
Used PEDs and again delayed the fight
Won a close majority decision people feel he didn't deserve
Acted like GGG was too easy
Now wants GGG at 39
Did you forget how all Canelos biggest fans bragged how Canelo didn't owe GGG another payday? Lmfao. But now its about the money right? Despite the fact hebhad a guarentee right?
And as much as you wanna pretend that isn't the case its the case for a majority of boxing fans. You are in the minority.
He signed with DAZN and was given a guarentee purse he still wouldn't fight GGG outside of Vegas where the MAJORITY doesn't even believe he won once.
And to add to insult you're forget that the only reason why Canelo is going to fight overseas is because he can't make a live gate in the US which means no 35 million.Comment

For all of these young boxing fans, that do not know that Mexicans were always fighting in all parts of the world, if you are a boxing historian research and see how many Mexicans won a world title outside of mexico or USA? With that said Canelo wants to walk the same route that made so many Mexicans great! USA is not the only place to fight and to make $$$Comment

1 out of what?
Like 8 of his biggest fights? And I think Canelo barely edged that fight even considering he got the KD.
I see you only are arguing one point and neglecting the other 7 becauze it fits your agenda right?
You think one fight changes that?Comment
