Now that the belts are swept by European fighters, boxing has an angle that can be marketed to the mainstream public. There now will be all types of "great american hopes" that are being hyped up and going after the title. This whole situation is what ultimately could revive the heavyweight division.

Wow, come to think of it, if Joe Mesi were able to climb all the way back that would be the perfect guy to challenge one of the European belt holders. Underdog Italian American from New York fighting back against all odds... Very likeable guy... around when another Rocky movie is coming out... although I don't know if he can climb back enough to challenge one of these guys.
