Comments Thread For: Liam Paro Wants Title Shot in Near Future, Talks Ramirez-Catterall

Liam Paro sits highly in the WBO super lightweight ratings, with the number two eager to secure a clash for the world title in the coming months. Australian, Paro, is rated just behind Jack Catterall, who has been scheduled to fight unified champion Jose Ramirez. However, with no fresh announcements being mooted at for Ramirez/Catterall, Paro has suggested he is the man to step into any 'vacant' world title fight.

Light welter's pretty much tied up right now & the only fight anyone wants to see is Taylor/Ramirez. If Paro's looking for a genuine title then why doesn't he challenge current Commonwealth champion Philip Bowes? & get himself known in the UK which should give him more exposure, thus providing fights with the likes of Cattrell further down the line.

Because he is in the classic Australian fighter situation. Good enough to get a world ranking and be in the mix for a title shot, not good enough to be confident of beating someone else at the exact same level.

The guys this kid has fought, looked good on paper, but watching them in the ring they were barely above club fighter standard. He's been brought along intelligently and he's a good fighter but if he fought anyone truly world class he would be decimated.
