Obviously Hatton didn't want the rematch as he fought Pac instead. It came out in Boxing News. Hatton's father said Haymon called him to do the rematch but they already committed to fight Pac. FACT. In Boxing News weekly magazine

Floyd was saying when he boxes he does it because he wants to. He wasn't saying "I don't box anymore". He got paid for both he's last outings. Same as Pac. The difference in the appearances and tasks is what I was referring to, and thats what I said. Nothing about resumes since that wasn't what the article was about was it. Floyd didn't say when I used to box it was because I wanted to. When I had my best wins I was boxing because I wanted to. No, so me and you are talking at cross purposes and I think you know it. Floyds last two appearances in a ring were against non fighters, because that's how he wanted it. Pacs were against real fighters. Simple difference.

Humor me though, what would your reaction be if Floyd was to “unretire” and fight guys like Mikey Garcia (rumored to be PAC’s next opponent), or Broner, whom PAC fought after Broner was coming off a draw and a loss, or Brandon Rios who was coming off a loss and moving up to 147 or Mathysse who was literally insignificant at 147 and his last big fight he lost to Garcia.

Well I think it wouldn't be much different to Berto. I always thought that was a wasted last fight and an unfitting send off. I'm not a big fan of exhibitions, and saw the Conor fihkt as great business but bad for boxing. I just want to see something competitive. Or don't bother. But I get these guys are earning. But it Floyd had come back and beaten Broner and Thurman I'd have seen it as adding to hes greatness, yeah, im sure I would.
