Comments Thread For: Brandon Figueroa on Stephen Fulton: I'd Make Him Quit in The Late Rounds

Some fighters are content to wait on the sidelines until the Covid-19 pandemic passes over, and others, like 23-year-old Brandon Figueroa, are going stir-crazy from the inactivity. The highly-rated junior featherweight from Weslaco, Texas just wants to get in the ring. His opponent? He could care lessHe'll take on whomever his manager Al Haymon offers him. Sight unseen.

Bullocks, Figueroa doesn’t even have the balls to face his mandatory challenger Ronny Rios. His daddy Al Haymon had to pay the ratchet WBA in order to not have him fight Rios next. The kid is another PBC hype job like Joey Spencer

I'm ready for Rigo to back to 122, if no one steps up @ 118! There's a lot of food on the table!

If Azat and Robinson Castellanos can overwhelm Rios I think Brandon can too guy just went toe to toe with Ceja who didn't even make weight and is a bigger puncher than Rios so I don't see him having too much trouble with him. I like Ronny his win over De La Hoya was good but who had De La Hoya fought up until that point Rios already had already fought for a world title against Vargas and had already beat future champion Cancio he had a lot more experience going into that fight.

Either way I still want to see them fight would be fireworks as long as it lasts because that is their styles I just think Figueroa is fresher than Rios and a bigger puncher but we shall see. I do know that if Brandon keeps his style up he is not going to have a long career especially when he moves up to 126-130 hopefully he adapts.

Bro, Rios has looked like a different animal after the Azat defeat the De La Hoya win was just icing in the cake. Also, Castellanos has a W over Gamboa who just went 12 rds with Tank Davis after suffering a torn Achilles. Honestly, you are overestimating Figueroa the kid ain’t nothing special he was actually gifted a draw as many people including myself though Ceja beat him. Also, Rios was due a title shot during 9 months of when Figueroa 1st became the regular champ but daddy Haymon payed off the WBA so Figueroa could take a voluntary defense against a bum like Vasquez, can’t support duckers in this game

Rios has really looked focused, sharp, and determined more recently than ever. I was pissed when they pulled Rios and put Vasquez instead. I was really looking forward to what the better version of Rios can bring against the weak defense of Figueroa.

Yeah, don’t think people realize how much Ronny has improved since those defeats early in his career. Don’t hate Figueroa just don’t think he’s anything more than an average fighter. There’s a reason PBC didn’t put him in there with Rios next they know the kid gets a boxing lesson that night

I think Fulton or Leo would box circles around him.

Lol the De La Hoya win was the only icing on the entire cake because who else has Rios beat since Azat to be rating him so high he looked very bad and one dimensional against Rey Vargas, Figueroa has a reach and height advantage just like Rey except he has power in both hands and can switch stances. Castellanos has been knocked out by plenty of fighters so to be one of the few name fighters he beat is not a good thing. I like Rios and he is game could he upset Figueroa yeah he can he's in his prime and is a decent puncher but I think Escandon and Ceja hit harder so he's nothing Brandon hasn't seen before.

Also yeah the Ceja fight was very close and he could've won but Julio came in a division overweight if he had drained and made weight like Brandon who knows how he would've responded to the punches might not have even gone the distance.

Funny, Rios has at least beaten a former WBA regular champ in Cancio along with solid wins against Jayson Velez and Diego De La Hoya while Figueroa hasn’t fought anybody worth mentioning besides Ceja who was robbed. Anyhow, if Figueroa is truly everything you say he is why didn’t he tell his team he’ll fight his mandatory in Rios next instead of a bum in Vasquez?
