  • Comments Thread For: Joe Joyce To Daniel Dubois After Dismantling Wallisch: I'm Coming For You!

Joe Joyce expects to be lighter and better prepared when he steps into the ring to battle Daniel Dubois on October 24. COVID-19 restrictions prevented the big British heavyweight from working with his head trainer, Ismael Salas, for his third-round technical knockout of Michael Wallisch on Saturday night in London. The 6-feet-6 Joyce weighed in at 270 pounds, 14 pounds heavier than he was for his previous fight, and he got off to a very slow start before overwhelming Wallisch with his vaunted power.

“It’d be good to get back with Salas as soon as possible, so then I can get back to that Latin, Cuban style, which I love,” Joyce said.

... but Joyce has nothing to do with that "style", tbh.

As of now, for what I have seen of Joyce against Wallisch I'd put my money on Dubois inside two or three rounds.

I like Joyce output and selection of punches but he is very slow and robotic. Plus he gets hit too cleanly. A counter puncher will have a field day with him.

What exactly is "that latin style". Cubans tend to be dirty fighters so is he saying that he likes that dirty fighting style?

... I don't know how old you are...

... at the amateurs, "the Cuban school" was and is very clean and elegant, tbh...

Erislanday Lara is the definition of Cuban fighter and Joe Joyce will never be that type guy. He isn't fast enough hands or feet. You nailed it with Cuban style being elegant for sure that's a great description

... Rigondeaux, Ugas, and even Ortiz are elegant...

I like Joyce and he has strengths but it’s a strange comment. The traditional ‘Latin strengths’ aren’t what he is good at. Doesn’t look to have the reactions to pull thar style off.

Amateur is one thing. What I have seen on the pro level and even at the Amateur level is that they tend to be dirty fighters. They are very crafty and use techniques that can be seen as dirty. They are great boxers and that is what puzzles me. Again I am going off of what I have personally seen when I watch the fights. They do whatever it takes to win and they know of all the dirty tricks to get the job done.
