Would you still watch boxing if...

...the fighters were forced to wear head gear? I would still watch boxing because I love it. I wouldnt be happy with it but it would save alot of damage to the fighters. What do you guys think?

if i could quote the writer who wrote the introduction to the "THE HARDEST GAME". the introduction is probably my favorite essay of all time. its worth the price of the book alone, which is also amazing.

"Perhaps a limited form of headgear should be introduced. But is must be admitted that if the game loses its rawness, it is nothing. If it ever became a kind of fencing with fists, a mere trial of skills, reflexes and agility, and not the test of courage , will and resilience that it is now, then it would lose its appeal for many who are neither sadists nor seekers after the trappings of virility. For some of us boxing, with all its thousands of ambiguities, offers in its best moments a thrill as pure and basic as a heartbeat"

"Johnny Owens's tragedy was to find himself articulate in such a dangerous language. but the people who say he should have been denied access to that language run the risk of playing god." - johnny owen died because of boxing injuries

So no, i would not watch boxing if headgear had to be worn.

I have seen a ton of brutal KO's in the amateurs. But I have to agree on the **** no to head gear in the pros.
