Kostya Tszyu Wants One Last Fight!
Sounds like a lot of BS to me. you mean to tell me him and his camp knew about his shoulder injury and still put him up against Hatton? Please.[/
He was fighting with an injured should for 2-3 years before surgery, but fought through it until it finally blew; he didn't know the seriousness of the injury until he got surgery and the Doctor told him that there was serious scar tissue built up for the last 2-3 years...when he came back against Mitchell, it was healthy. Didn't you notice the difference with power? he did stun Mitchell over and over with the short left hook.
This isn't that uncommon: Oscar fights with a not so great shoulder; I think it is Labrum tear, which is not that uncommon for a lot of athletes and they play through it instead of getting surgery.
Remember, Kostya also hurt his ribs before the Mitchell fight and didn't disclose it until after the fight, but everybody in his camp knew.
It's EGO and MONEY loss if he didn't fight through; plus, he probably thought he could blow Hatton out of there within a few rounds.
The one main concern I have with this is that when fighters get injured over and over again at this late in their career, the body is at the final rejection stage.
I also think he has looked terrible in the weigh-ins for the Mitchell fight and especially for the Hatton fight...he needs to move up or don't come back; it would also be only good to fight Hatton for a revenge fight or people will talk.Last edited by Abe Attell; 08-12-2006, 10:24 PM.Comment
I saw KT's power against Mitchell, no question, and I know about fighter's pride and that this is a business. But what good did it do against RH? A little research would've gone a long way! KT's was one of the leading p4p fighters on most lists, where is he now?Originally posted by gerardofprSounds like a lot of BS to me. you mean to tell me him and his camp knew about his shoulder injury and still put him up against Hatton? Like I said, he thought he could probably just blow Hatton out like he did Mitchell: he got away with an undisclosed rib injury in that fight, so why wouldn't he think he could get through this fight the same way.
The problem with Tszyu is that his Ego starts to get the best of him: just like he thought he could juggle all the legal problems while having to train late for the Vince Phillips fight, it didn't work out.
He then rededicates himself, gets back on top, but once people are not counting him out, his big Ego starts to believe the writings in the paper.Comment

Ive always said Tszyu would come back because like Hopkins & many others, he wont like to retire until he feels what a different weight class wouldve been like. He definatly will fight at 147 if he comes back and I think he wants to know how it wouldve been. Maybe we can get Floyd vs Tszyu in Febuaray? I doubt it though. I would love to see Tszyu vs Hatton, Cotto, or Margarito at 147.
Tszyu will be 37 but it may not be a hard 37 because he has had so much time off in boxing so I think his body is younger then his age & boxers are fighting much longer nowdaysComment
