Canelo fought Fielding who Smith had already KOed in one round. Now he might fight Ryder who Smith just beat by UD. Is Canelo making a career of fighting guys Smith already beat? What Mayweather called his leftovers. Smith is the real 168 pound champ. His asking price for a fight is reasonable. Canelo should fight him next. He has earned and deserves the fight. Ryder has 5 losses including loses to Smith, Fielding and a KO lose to a guy nobody on this forum ever heard of. Fighting Ryder is a step backward for Canelo while fighting Smith is fighting the consensus number 1 super middleweight champion.

I mean this thread is about Canelo vs Smith. I'm still not convinced that Smith is the #1 SMW, but really everyone is sort of unproven for the most part so I can buy the winner of this fight being #1.

I would prefer this fight to the others being discussed, but I think you are selling Ryder short a bit for his performance against Smith. Sure it was UD for Smith, but plenty thought Ryder won that fight. At least for that night, Smith wasn't able to separate himself from Ryder.
