Chavez gave Taylor misleading confedence. Chavez allowed himself to be hit more to put his hands on Taylor, and it worked. It was no one sided beating, but Taylor got the ill effects of the power Chavez was putting on him. Chavez still gets hated by some just from this fight.

The ref asked "are you ok" twice. Meldrick did not respond, Richard Steele did his job.

There was no response from Taylor twice, & regardless of how many seconds were left in the round, Steele had seen, heard & probably felt those shot Chaves was landing better then anyone else, Medrick's head was completely swollen & like they said he had suffered serious damage to the body & brain, he was ****in' pissing blood. It was an unbelievable display of heart to have even gotten back up, & he deserved to win that fight without a doubt, but I think Steele made the right decision, I don't think I would have let that fight continue looking at Taylor's face.
