Saunders, Smith, and other fighters who turn down millions to fight Canelo will all be proven wrong in time. Once they reach their mid-late 30s and they never had that big money fight and their bank accounts are low due to poor management, low fight pay, and bad financial guidance only then will they and their so-called fans realize just how bad they screwed up by not facing the biggest star in boxing and in time no one will really remember their careers or them. Boxing history is littered with fighters who blew it and then fell into oblivion.
Just look at Nathan Cleverly, he could of fought Hopkins the biggest name in his division at the time and he could of made a lot of money, compared to other fights and he had a real chance to beat Hopkins due to his age. If he won he would of been a big deal, but he chose to fight a relative up and coming Kovalev and he got destroyed. His career was never the same and he never made any big money fights. Smith is not very good and he will eventually get beat by some lower ranked top ten guy and poof there goes his ability to make top money and get big fights. Saunders is lazy and is aging and he still has not made any real attempt at becoming a known fighter making big money. I can cite fighters dating back 30 yrs who blew there chance at becoming someone, but current boxing fans would not really know who they are and that is the point.
