I understand the friendship, but Bud needs a fight like this, and Porter would be a great opponent for him! If we look back in history, we'll find out that Joe Frazier was assisting Ali, even letting him stay in his house, while the U.S. Gov't was all up in the Champ's azz! However, Frazier knew the value of ALi vs. Frazier! Bud needs this for his legacy!

    April 11, 2020:

On March 22, 1967, world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali successfully defended his title for the ninth time, knocking out Zora Folley in the seventh round. It would be his last fight for more than three years. After refusing induction into the armed forces, Ali was stripped of his title, stripped of his passport, and was denied a boxing license by every state in the U.S.

One of Ali’s biggest supporters turned out to be Joe Frazier, who would later win the heavyweight title which Ali had vacated. Frazier, who met Ali in 1968, was passionate about getting Ali back into boxing as the two had become friends. He loaned Ali money during his suspension, testified to Congress on Ali’s behalf, and even petitioned President Richard Nixon to have Ali reinstated. While the two were friends, Frazier also knew getting Ali back into boxing would further his own career. He wanted to be known as the best fighter in the world and the only way that could happen was for him to beat Muhammad Ali.

I don't think Bud & Shawn will end up like Ali & Frazier, however Frazier needed Ali, as bad as Ali needed Frazier. Bud needs this fight!

The only way he can earn the money he desires is to fight a top opponent. Nobody can justify paying him 5.5 million for fighting Ray Robinson with no fans...

He doesn't appreciate Porter's hypocrisy. When Porter had a belt it was "Bud my friend yada yada" and now that he doesn't have **** and would be demoted to gatekeeper by PBC, him and his father are now calling for a Crawford fight. Serious lack of integrity.

Bud vs an actually accomplished opponent? I don’t think that’s gonna happen.

Crawford has already indicated what he expects. Porter is not going to come cheap, even if PBC would be amenable to.it.

If Crawford is expecting at least his guaranteed minimum I don't think any of those 5 possible opponents listed is going to materialise anytime soon as even Brook will be looking for $$$.

It isn't like Bud has a REAL belt, or even got it from someone top flight.

Yeah, the so called accomplished fighters always talk about fighting Crawford and never sign on the dotted line or send contracts for Crawford to sign on the dotted line. They talk talk talk then fight someone they know can't beat them to stay in the Manny lottery.

Spence was talking then slipped and made it clear he didn't want that heat, the Porters did the same thing and so did Thurman and Garcia.

If Bud is an easy mark that never faced real opposition, then all those so called top guys should be trying to fight him, quick KO and big paydays down the road..

Yeah they are not doing it because they know.. just like people say Andrade is a joke at 160, but no top dog wants to step up..

I don’t think that the problem isn’t that everyone else is ducking him, I think Bob Arum is just a crappy promoter who can’t or won’t make the fights people actually want to see.

I love this fight. How would Bud hold up to that constant pressure, round after round. Does Bud have enough power at welterweight to hurt Porter, who has never been stopped. And I’m talking about enough power to keep Shawn from coming forward every round.
