Standing nearly 6'10 tall, heavyweight Tye Fields, 266, won a 4th Round TKO victory over Ed Mahone, 239. The Las Vegas crowd in attendance was high on anticipation for this bout between the two former national heavyweight champions. The southpaw Fields demolished Mahone improving his record to 36-1, 33 KOs. Mahone's record drops to 23-6-2, 23 KOs.
Fields established his big left hand early in Round 1 causing a tentative Mahone to run away from his aggressor. The Referee chastised Mahone telling the boxer to get to work! Before Mahone could get to work, a Fields left-and-right sent Mahone sailing to the canvas. Mahone lifted himself from the floor. The bell sounded to end Round 1 before Fields could engage Mahone again. In Round 2, Mahone fought back scoring a thunderous left hook followed by a big right hand. However, Fields continued to land his straight lefts throughout the round. In Round 3, a straight left from Fields floored Mahone. Mahone rose to his feet only to go down again. Mahone's second recovery was also short-lived as a barrage from Fields scored the Giant Heavyweight his third knockdown of the round and his fourth knockdown of the battle. In the Fourth Round, Fields was measuring Mahone. Fields connected with a flurry of punches pinning Mahone against the ropes and rendering him defenseless. Referee Richard Steele waved off the bout at 1:10 of Round 4 declaring a TKO victory for Fields.
