Ray Leonard was recently ranked higher than him on a welterweight list of ATGs. Floyd immediately chimed in to insist that no fighter who has a loss on their record could possibly be greater. He has thrown shade at the ATGs like Robinson, Ali, and Leonard because he is a narcissist and a classless clown. An arrogant hype job who admittedly marinated the Pac fight for five years with one excuse after another. Only to insist that he was the smart one for making it a bigger fight.

That is his opinion. I don't think he is better than those guys but he thinks he is. I don't get why that bothers you? If Loma suggested he was better than these guys you wouldn't complain at all. You seem to want Floyd to have the same opinion of himself as you do. That is ridiculous.

Actually, history will be much kinder to Pacquiao. Duran lost to Benitez, Hearns and Leonard, yet he is regarded as the better P4P ATG. His resume and boxing style stands up to the test of time.

The only thing Floyd has going for him is his very protected undefeated record, which will be scrutinized for years to come, same as Marciano’s.

And plenty of people still give Marciano and boxers like Willie Pep a mystic aura of invincibility and untouchability.

I think that’s where you are misunderstanding me as if I am determining Floyd’s legacy will be greater than Pacquiao’s.

Two flaws with this post.

1. Floyd's resume and style stand the test of time as well. That is why he is ranked ahead of Manny in every credible list of ATG boxers, the same way Duran is ranked ahead of the men you reference in this post.

2. The reason Duran is ranked ahead of them is because he was the dominant LW, arguably the best ever, before he moved up. He wasn't a career WW like Benitez, SRL or Hearns or a career MW like Hagler. Manny was never that in any weight class he was in.
