Comments Thread For: Warrington: Gary Russell is There For The Taking, Xu Can Fight Would Be Memorable

IBF featherweight champion Josh Warrington has very high hopes for the level of drama in a potential clash with WBA champion Xu Can. A fight between Warrington and Can was close to being finalized before the coronavirus pandemic erupted all over the world.

I like Warrington's work rate and he is something of an overachiever with what he has, but I'd go with Can or Russel over Warrington. Can's work rate is incredible and Russell still has those twitch reflexes and power.

Talks trash about Shakur Stevenson and Gary Russell Jr but ends up fighting Xu Can instead.

Literally no one is going to outwork Warrington and anyone that has actually watched him knows that despite his low KO percentage he holds enough power to stop anyone walking him down so he will outwork and outpunch Can Xu to win that but as long as Russel doesn't underestimate Warrington I can see Russel out boxing him quite easily but I remember Frampton dismissing his power and technical ability which lead to him using the wrong game plan and ultimately losing so Warrington is no easy win for anyone at that weight.

Warrington does not have any type of power to push Russell back or keep him honest. Gary Russell's reflexes are too sharp he will easily outbox the pale lad.

If Warrington wanted to fight Stevenson he would have stayed with Top Rank.

If josh can get Gary in Leeds, his chances go up. Other wise, with no other changes, like if old age kicks in, Gary is too fast and he does hit hard. I'm not all the way sold on Josh, the Kid took advantage of that lack of power.

I doubt Warrington is scared of anybody but I think he understands the basics of boxing politics
