Better than nothing. I called for this fight long ago when Ryder KO’d Canelo’s sparring partner Bilal Akkawy.

Who the f-k is Joe rider? Get out of here with that $h1t. Canelo should be fighting champions not nobodies.

Yes he should. He was a 4 to 1 favorite favorite to beat Jacobs, a 15 to 1 favorite to beat Fielding and a 4 to 1 favorite to beat Kovalev but many call him the ultimate risk taker daring to be great. So he should fight somebody with a decent chance to beat him in Vegas like Bivol or Benavidez or even Callum Smith all at Canelo's favorite weight of 168. A weight Bivol challenged him at. Ryder is not going to beat him and everybody knows it. it takes some of the excitement away from a fight when you are certain who will win it.

Have you guys looked at who John Ryder has been outboxed by?

This would be an awful mismatch.

Ryder was on a good super middleweight run and he was a victim of one of the biggest robberies I've ever seen in his last fight. He should be a champion.

I've said this one too, John should have got the nod over both Mundo and Fielding so there really ain't argument about his quality, and in terms of build he ain't dissimilar to Canelo himself... lil fckin tank. Southpaw too, just to add a little extra interest. I'm also willing to bet he'd fight for about half of what most of the bigger names would fight for.

Can't see him coming close to a win on the cards, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be a good fight, in fact likely one of the better ones that can sensibly be made right now.

              I'm in.

Can’t say I’d be overly excited about this fight but, I wouldn’t begrudge Ryder getting a payday. He’s one of boxing’s few good guys.

He edged Smith 115-113 IMO. I was at that fight and even most Smith fans admitted they felt Ryder edged it, or at least deserved the draw.

This too, John comes across as a genuine good dude and he's been screwed over more than his share. Can't see he's much hope of a Win but I'll guarantee he'll give 100% and a good account of himself. Fun fight I reckon, as much as it can be with the winner pretty much pre-ordained.

You missed the point of the OP. Because the fight will be in an empty arena DAZN is looking for a cheap but acceptable opponent.

Bivol, Benanvidez, and BJS are PPV worthy opponents and theres just no market for that right now...bars arent open and with the way things are going - we do not know when they will open

Plus the Ryder fight helps build a Callum Smith event
