Comments Thread For: Ramirez: I'll Fight Stevenson When It's Convenient; He Needs To Avenge Loss, Not Me

Robeisy Ramirez isn't in a rush to grant Shakur Stevenson his shot at redemption. If Ramirez can avenge his own loss Thursday night to Adan Gonzales, the Cuban southpaw plans to give Stevenson a rematch according to his timetable, not Stevenson's schedule. Ramirez edged Stevenson by split decision to win the bantamweight gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

At least the dude is straight up about not wanting those problems right now. Smart move cause Stevenson is looking better and better.

The longer he waits, the worse the beating will be. His entire existance on top rank is based on getting Stevenson that revenge win.

Not that I think much about either one, but I would tell Ramirez, that was the amateurs, this is the pros, Stevenson doesn't need to beat Ramirez for anything. Ramirez needs to focus on the guy who beat him, you know, in the actual pros.

This fight likely won't happen. Dude is very realistic about not being ready, plus Shakur is too big for him and still growing. there's no need for a rematch because i think it's easy to see that Shakur is no longer that same kid from the Olympics and he will hurt this Cuban real bad if they fought again

Top Rank has been signing Olympic Champions for decades now, they signed three other double Olympic Champions in Loma, Zou and Rigo along with a whole bunch of Olympians every four years.

A gold olympic medal means a lot, even in the amateurs.

Ramirez wouldn’t stand a chance with Stevenson right now
