    Adonis Stevenson vs Carl Froch.

Stevenson become Froch’s mandatory in 2012, had he not been offered the Dawson fight, he likely would have fought Froch at some point in 2013.

This would have been a great fight IMO. I could see Stevenson tagging him early and putting him down like Groves did, but if he can’t finish him off, you know Froch would come storming back, especially after Stevenson inevitably gasses.

I’m either thinking the relatively unknown (at the time) Stevenson sparks him early and scores the big upset or Froch weathers the storm and scores a late stoppage.

    Who wins and how?

Getting hit by Groves and getting hit by Adonis is an entirely different spectrum. I don’t think Froch survives Adonis if he goes down. Now, if he sees them coming and takes the bite off a bit and can manage it, I could see Froch coming in strong and getting the type of work rate decision in his favor. It seems like a bad matchup for him...but Bute did too. Hell, Froch has a style that just visually seems like everyone is a bad matchup for him.

Interesting fight but man can Adonis punch...

Fair point... essentially every matchup was bad for him, his technique was terrible.

Groves caught him so clean though, I’m not sure many other fighters could have survived that, Adonis was a huge puncher though and Froch would be wide open to the straight left.

Stevenson by KO in my opinion. Froch was not very hard to hit clean and if Stevenson can hit a guy clean very often he probably knocks them out. Froch could also win by KO but Stevenson had an amazing accurate very fast and deadly straight left and I think that punch spells doom for Froch as it did for so many others.

Yeah, Froch just has such a funky style. Hard to see him win fantasy fights because of how effective he could actually be come fight night.

Groves isn’t a light puncher by any means and he definitely landed some nukes. The way he landed on Froch was absolutely as best as you can land. Hatton went into a coma getting hit by Pac that way. What a chin and toughness. He was BADLY hurt.

I suppose the thing is is that Groves was brilliant that night.

I can see why Groves is a bit bitter sometimes. You can not hit someone any harder or more regularly than he did, I'd say at that level, but I maybe even under that. He was seeing Froch's chin like it was a bowling ball.

If Stevenson managed the same surely he gets him out.

He took an unbelievable amount of clean punches, I always remember that 6th round and Froch ate like 5 clean shots in a row, his chin was literally granite.

I think some bitterness is understandable from Groves perspective based on how the first fight ended. The stoppage was complete BS, I was so pissed off we never got a decisive conclusion to that first fight, it was an incredible fight up to that point.

I like Froch but it still would have been something if Groves did chin him in a round.

Groves would have walked out of the ring and all the way back to Hammersmith in his gloves and never been heard from again because what would be the point?
