Sugar Ray Robinson and Jake Lamotta fought 6 times. 2 of there fights happend 2 weeks apart from each other. Thats not even time to train, 2 weeks is just time to recover.

After LaMotta handed SRR his first loss. He took a tune-up a week later and won. Then fought LaMotta the next week. That's two championship fights in 3 weeks. AMAZING.

Nah, Lamotta was trying to kill SRL every fight but 1 which is rumored to have been fixed but that Lamotta in refusing to get knocked out and lose that way, just took a beating for the entire fight.

The validity of this I am not sure about but its a common story.

A lot of the older guys fought a lot, you often see 70-100 fights which is not even come close to by todays top fighters. With that many fights they often had fights within weeks of each other.

And I always wondered why older boxers had 100+ fights while todays fightera have like 50-55 fights by retirement. And De La Hoya, if he only fights one more time, would only have fought 43 fights in his professional carrer. But then again, De La Hoya has fought over 200 times as an amateur, but I guess it still doesn't matter. Didn't older boxers become pros without much of any amateur experience?
