Given the Narative: What’s a fair purse for Bivol to take home vs Canelo

The narrative is that he’s willing to take less money than anyone else and he’s also willing to come down to 168 to fight Canelo. All this in order to duck Betterbieve which will only pay him about 1.5 million.

I’d say Canelo should offer him 2 or 3 million, since he’s doing all this to avoid putting in real work vs Betterbieve. If he beats Beterbiev and adds those other straps then this could be a super fight vs Canelo

your statement that Bivol is challenging Canelo to avoid Beterbiev is ridiculous. If he doesn't want to fight Beterbiev all he needs to do is not sign a contract and he sure as hell does not need to challenge Canelo to do that. He made this same challenge to Canelo to fight him at 168 almost two years ago before Beterbiev looked so great unifying two of the titles. 2 or 3 million seems like a very sh itty offer considering Canelo will get his standard 35 million. It does not matter. Canelo will not offer Bivol any money at all. Canelo won't offer Beterbiev any money to fight him. Canelo will not offer the winner of Beterbiev vs Bivol a fight either if they fight. Kovalev was the first and last of Canelo's fights against any light heavyweight champions and he dropped that title he won from Kovalev like a hot rock. Canelo will most likely fight a 168 pound champ like Plant or Saunders. Bivol is younger than Canelo and he is a great boxer and a hard puncher. Canelo will never fight Bivol so why bother to start a thread about it.

          Bivol should get $7 million.

Jacobs made $12.5 million. Kovalev made $12 million.

He’s not the name those two are.

Billy Joe Saunders agreed to $8 million.

Saunders and Bivol are pretty much only known in boxing circles but Saunders does bring a big country’s fan base to the table. That’s where the extra million comes in.

I also believe Bivol brings a little bit more to the table than Derevyanchenko, as he’s a current world champion. SD asked for $7 million to get somewhere in between $5.5 (Canelo’s offer) and $7 million.

So I think the logic here makes sense for the prices of Canelo opponents.

PPV stars are worth over $13 million (GGG), proven PPV quality opponents are worth between $10-$13 million (Jacobs, Kovalev), guys who are a level below that but bring a big country/city fan base are worth $8-10 million (Charlo, BJS, Smith), champions who don’t have a fan base but have a title for Canelo to fight for are worth at least $7 million. Any other potential opponent, which probably just leaves mandatories at this point, are worth about $6 million.
