Canelo being the face of boxing has always been a myth, He has absolutely no crossover appeal outside of his own country. He could walk down the street in almost every country in the world and nobody would know who he is, but Fury is a worldwide superstar.

Boxing was desperate for another superstar when Floyd retired, So they tried to make people believe it was Canelo but it never has been.
    This is the truth.

Funniest thing is how they talk about everyone else wanting their fair share and thinks it should just be peanuts compared to the contract DAZN gave Canelo.

Canelo is not worth the 35 million a fight he gets because he himself isnt even that great of a draw. Is he better than a lot of other people? Yes, but no where near the last crop of boxers who were called the face of boxing i.e. Mayweather/Pac/Cotto.

His crossover appeal is nothing because no one does recognize him. Toss in the fact he blatantly refuses to speak english and the appeal is gone.

Take a look at Canelos ppv buys. If Mayweather or Cotto arent attached it's nothing.

Canelo only got the number he did with GGG because it was a means event everyone was waiting for. 3 belt unified champion GGG vs Canelo "mexican superstar" Canelo.

Even his DAZN numbers have ******.

Canelo has only ever done decent numbers at best when he didn’t have a big dance partner.

Of course he is a bigger draw than most, But he has never been the first of boxing like they wanted that was just the likes of golden boy and HBO at the time Trying to convince people he was after Floyd retired, if you tell enough people. some will believe you.

Even if he was the first of boxing it was never going to last as soon as a heavyweight like Fury Is around with a big personality and wins his big fights convincingly. I’m not saying Fury is the out and out face of boxing yet but he’s on his way.

The fact that most of the public felt Canelo lost to GGG, it didn’t do his image of the face of boxing much good. Casual fans are the ones that make you the face of boxing with crossover appeal and those kind of decisions are the reason casual fans say they don’t care much for boxing because it’s corrupt. His fights have arguably done more damage for the casual audience than good

Ask a random bloke off the street in the UK or America and i guarantee they won't have a clue who Canelo is.

They're much more likely to remember an outlandish character like Fury who actually speaks English.

Fury already did WWE and tons of people here in America love that ****.

            That's big crossover there.

I remember seeing Canelos first DAZN commercial and I didnt even recognize him at first because he was just wearing plain generic boxing gear.

It wasnt until they got up close and I was like, oohhhh, that's ****ing Canelo. Like literally, they could have inserted any random scrub off the street and told him to pretend to box and I guarentee it would have had the same effect.

Doesnt help AT ALL that he doesnt speak English too or have a decent personality etc.

Canelo fans can say all they want about GGG but GGG didnt have a chunk of his fights end in disputed decisions.

              For example. (Imo)

              Lara (canelo loss)
Trout (close but I think trout lost)
              GGG1( 8-4 GGG)
              GGG2 (7-5 GGG)
That Mayweather card (That NASTY 114-114 card)

They want to complain that GGG got a gift decision with Jacob's but fail to consider

That no one actually thinks Jacob got robbed only them

More people believe that GGG beat Canelo twice than Jacob's beating GGG once

The Jacob's GGG fought was on an undefeated streak and came in HUGE and fought the fight of his life. So much so he literally collapsed at the end.

Compared to Jacob's who fought Canelo and was weight drained so much he couldnt even make the "stipulated next day weigh in" and was forced to move to 168.

And while they talk about GGG "facing bums" the fact is a lot of those guys were rated as top 10 MWs and some former champions when he beat them. Not stellar wins but WHO wanted to fight GGG? A question they STILL STRUGGLE WITH TO THIS DAY.

Literally this week I got two names from the haters, Ward, who couldnt make 168 and Martinez who was available but didnt want it.

But they like to say **** like

Brook, who was a late replacement because Eubank Jr was scared

Compared to Canelo fighting Khan as a chosen opponent

Or when they say **** like GGG vs Vanes, which ONLY was possible because Canelo needed PEDs

Or like when instead of fighting any TRUE 168 champs he claims an interm title just to say "3 division champ".

Or like when he adds weight stipulations to

              155 Canelo weight
              Lara
              Liam smith
              Trout
              Chavez junior
              Jacob's
              Rocky Fielding
              Kovalev

Just off the top if my head and that's literally every single fight since he created "155 Canelo weight" you know because he was a "small MW" BUT somehow has settled in at 168 because he definitely cant make 160 anymore and can cherry pick a title at 175 and drop it as soon as he gets it because he knows he cant compete there.

Canelo is a very good fighter but compared to his peers at the world level I dont understand how people can claim he light years ahead of GGG. Hes really not.
