Comments Thread For: Navarrete Was Not Concerned With Taking Cut in Pay, Wanted To Be Active

Far from worrying about what he would have to sacrifice economically, the only thing that mattered to world champion Emanuel 'Vaquero' Navarrete was making sure that he and his team were in optimal conditions to finally return to the ring this Saturday in the Mexican capital and do what he is most passionate about.

Top Rank needs to get Navarrete a real opponent by August or September because he is too good to be beating up on bums 4 or 5 times a year

Was Rey Vargas not available? What’s the excuse for a tune up or stay busy fight when you’ve had 3 already? I don’t count De Vaca since Navarrete was entitled to one soft opponent after his rematch with Dogboe

He wasn't expected to beat Dogboe, and Top Rank doesn't have much at 122.

As a fighter I here U all but

Feed me bums, at least I’m making money until the risk is worth the award. Get paid 1st if you can, because it doesn’t always work that way then take on stiff competition.

Navarette is a serious dude. I'd have to rate him as one of my favorite fighters today. Tall, mean, strong, good stamina, high workrate, slashing hooks and uppercuts from awkward angles. Good punching power. Like a young Margarito

Not having anyone at 122 isn't a good excuse for Arum not getting Navarrete better opponents. Top Rank has a good relationship with Hearn so a unification with akhmadaliev would be pretty easy to make. Also, Vargas and Danny Roman don't have any fights scheduled, so one of them would probably be willing to fight Navarrete in August or September
