Who else was Manny going to fight? Paul Williams? Winky? Cotto @ 154 with no catchweight? Canelo? JMM was simply the safest bet. Smaller than Manny, had already loss 2x to Manny, Manny was extremely familiar with his style, and the fights always did good numbers and were big money. Manny's career was carefully handled to maximize profit, and that's why Bobby made that decision. I couldn't believe Manny fought Bradley 3x. I also couldn't believe he fought Rios...Or Algieri. Certainly couldn't believe he fought Jeff Horn. Vargas?
There much better opponents in all those cases.

That JMM 3rd fight was the worst decision they ever made in his career. That rivalry was long gone and nobody wanted to see that fight at that point. Nothing to gain except big bucks, and everything else to lose which did happen. That decision also killed a potential Marquez-Morales fight which would have been better for boxing IMO.
