He won the lineal title by beating old and shot Cotto. He only defended it against welterweight Amir Khan, Golovkin, who sucks according to every Canelo fan and Daniel Jacobs, who sucks because he lost to Golovkin.
Tyson Fury is one of six boxers in history to win the lineal heavyweight championship twice. That’s clearly a much greater accomplishment.

Cotto beat a one-legged champ who had 2 knee operations and hadn't fought in a year. Miguel is arguably the weakest MW champ in modern history. It's no wonder the diva don't talk about it.Comment

The lineal title is just romantic BS and has no value in the real world. The lineal title and a dollar or two will buy you a coffee or a beer. Canelo won the lineal title from Cotto who won it from Martinez and anybody who believes either Cotto or Martinez was the best middleweight in the world at that time does not know a damn thing about boxing. Neither of them were very good at that time and there were a number of middleweights who could beat them. Canelo won the so called lineal title from pretend champion Cotto at a BS catchweight of 155. Canelo became the real middleweight champ when he beat the real middleweight champion GGG on a disputed split decision in his boxing home town of Vegas. Canelo never brags on his lineal title because he knows it has no value. There was a time when Mike Tyson had KOed just about everybody and was considered the true heavyweight champ but Spinks still held the lineal title. Then Tyson fought Spinks and knocked him out in the first minute of the first round. So much for the lineal title.Comment
