I could see Fury being lineal champ for beating Wlad but he did not defend that title for over 3 years so he lost it just as you would lose any title you don't defend for over 3 years. Fury is now the WBC champion, no more and no less. He still has to beat AJ to become the man and the lineal champ and AJ owns 3 belts to his one belt.

He officially is the lineal champ... whether it’s a continuation from beating Wlad or establishing a new lineage after beating Wilder in a 1 vs 2 matchup. TBRB, The Ring etc all recognise Fury as the lineal champion.
