Thurman isnt even a good win. What makes Thurman a good win? He squeaked out Danny Garcia and Shawn Portee decisions? Most people thought Porter won and theres NOTHING Thurman has done entire career to suggest hes EVER been special. He ducked Crawford and Spence and ducked rematches with the only decent fighters on his entire resume...and he was literally almost KTFO by actual journeyman.

JMM win over Manny was excellent and still a Top 25 win EVER. JMM won the 3rd and 4th fight against Manny but the 4th was definitive unlike the first three fights. That KO was an ATG KO. It's a Top 25 KO EVER.

Yes, JMMs 2nd win over Manny in the 4th fight was FAR BETTER than Manny edging Thurman (7-5 or 6-6 w/ KD).

Marquez was 39 when he knocked out Pacquiao.

Pacquiao was 41 when he beat Thurman.

I initially wanted to start the premise of 2 years that Thurman was inactive whereas Manny was active when Marquez had KO’d him. Though I just checked and Marquez was 16 months younger.

Its because Thurman was regarded as one of the best WWs along with TC Errol Porter etc and he was even though he had issues which got him the fight with Manny, remember Manny called out Errol and then ran after Errol said yes right into Thurman who looked real shaky in his comeback fight. Manny saw he didnt look good and while Roach is saying Thurman been injured for years next thing we got Manny vs Thurman .

The question is how good is the top WWs right now, there is nobody dominating, until we see other wise just how good is the current crop compared to other generations, it just doesnt seem that strong atm and nobody is standing out. Ive seen it a quite a few times over 4 decades where a weight class is just not super strong but they hold the same titles, as sure as eggs they be the same title not the same value when taken of a way lessor fighter.

Its the reason Manny has a good chance with any of them right now based on what we have seen they are not that special until they start to fight each other.
