But we do know Kessler was top level when Calzaghe beat him, Kessler was older when he beat Froch. Bute was nearly stopped against Andrade before Carl got him. But Hopkins went on to shut out Pavlik after Calzaghe beat him..
I say so. I'm the judge of everything. in all seriousness he hadnt fought at 168 in years so think dawson-ward scenario there. he hadn't beaten a top 10 fighter in 3 years, and he lost to an unheralded guy named dan schommer(robbery) then lost a close fight to collins, then was dominated in the rematch, so all signs point to him slipping which isnt a surprise as he had been fighting like 5 times a year for a couple years there. it caught up to him and by 31 he was no longer the same. he never even won another fighta after calzaghe beat him. pascal went on to do great things. eubank didnt. eubanks greatness was in his name not in his form. think canelo-mosley. was that a great win? hardly.

possibly bika was pretty good. he actually has a case that he beat calzaghe or at least it was razor close. he was landing hard clean shots a lot more than calzaghe was. that was a fight that was influenced by crowd atmosphere and bad commentary more than substance

Froch has the better resume but Calzaghe was the better overall boxer!

Would’ve loved to have seen Calzaghe vs Tarver, I think the Magic Man would’ve took it!

calzaghes resume actually doesnt look so garbage compared to some modern day frauds like tank davis. only difference is calzaghe was hiding away from everyones view while tank brazenly struts his stuff with bum after bum in front of large crowds and on major networks.

Looks like there are more Calzaghe fans than Froch fans, just judging by comments. Calzaghe was slick, but really wasn't as great as all that. Certainly didn't have much power, and definitely had some refs on his side. My overall opinion of him is yes talented, but he certainly took an easy ride for the most part.

I don't think I've seen a fighter trash another fighter that he's never even fought as much Froch trashes Calzaghe.

I think Froch might have tried to ask for an autograph when he was younger, and Calzaghe told him to f**k off.
The UK is “too small for the two of us” is how I always felt about the boxing rivalries there.

Well you can't be the know all on here because I'm the resident know all. Eubank often fought down to the level of opposition, great against Benn and Watson, crappy against people like Sherry and Ray Close. Eubank could have a real fight with anyone, even big powerful cruiserweights, and Calzaghe stood and had a proper fight with him.Eubank was one of the toughest fighters you could lay eyes on. Pascal had a decent career, i wouldnt say as good as Eubank. But people may differ. But Calzaghe beat Kessler and Froch lost to him, at a bit of an older stage. Froch had a very close one with Dirrell, who never went on to do anything great. He didn't beat anyone comparable to even the Bhop who Calzaghe beat.Id say Bute was hes best win. As for direct comparison, I'd say Calzaghe was too fast and busy for a Froch who was easily bamboozled. At the only time him and Calzaghe couldve maybe fought, watching him look silly against Barney for 12 rounds was enough to put anyone off that fight. Froch had a good punch, but Groves never had a great chin or half the smarts of Calzaghe. I can't see Carl doing him with just one. He goes down clearly on points for me.

                    Froch's resume

                    Easy to tear apart also.

Dirrell - young and inexperienced, away from home. Froch given home town decision.

                    Abraham - middleweight. Limited Super-Middlewight.

Taylor - As above. Also outboxed Froch for vast majority of the fight.

Bute - over-rated, fought mid level opposition.

Pascal - inexperienced and young when beaten by Froch. Very close fight.

Kessler - way passed his prime. Beat Froch previously.

Glenn Johnson - old and lost many times. Split decision.

                    Ward - easily beat Froch.

Groves - decent fighter. Again was inexperienced. Also outboxed Froch throughout the 2 fights

Also Froch thinks the earth is flat
