Froch did take too many punchers but gave lots too but this is what separates him from the great fighters such as Calzhage and Ward at the weight. Froch was well beaten by Ward and never wanted the rematch.

Ward and Calzhage would have been an exceptional pick em fight but one that was unfortunately in a slightly different time span with Joe winding down and Ward coming through.

Froch wanted to rematch Ward in the UK for big money, Ward was the one who refused.

Ward wasn't athletic either. Ward's qualities, like Froch, are also intangible. Ward had better coaching and from that, he understood the game more. I don't know if any fighter would be an intelligent fighter without having a good coach and also being a good student.

Ward was too rough and physical for Froch, who was a fighter that prides himself on his own roughness and physicality. At the end of the fight froch was completely disheartened and accepted that he'd been beaten by a better fighter.
His backtracking, obvious and vocal bitterness, and reluctance to aggressively pursue a rematch have changed perceptions of him imo.

It was competetive in my eyes, had it 8-4, competitive? Yes, close? Not one bit. Laughed my ass of when Froch claimed Ward ran, when Andre ward was the one pressuring him in the ropes and digging body shots on the cement nosed clown.

yeah i agree i think froch did get the most of what he had, he was very tough and went to war in the ring but talent wise was a bit basic

but he was a road warrior and fought all over trhe place which is much tougher than sitting in the backyard with lets say kind officials just in case things go south
