Fair enough, I always appreciate your posts. I’m gonna check it out again with the least amount of bias I can muster..lolI just rewatched it. Mike never had any problem clinching after he lunged in, in any fight. Holy would walk him to the ropes, but Tyson was fine with that. Mike liked a few feet of space to lunge in with a 1-2, or sometimes even just a 1. He often looked to the ref to separate in fights. He rarely ever fought to get out. This let the ref create a bit of space where Mike could lunge in again. Not a bad strategy for Mike. The “headbutt”, Tyson was the one who lunged in and Holyfield ducked to his right, Holy didn’t make any move forward. Their heads collided, but that’s from Mikes momentum. Holy just slipped the punch. Watch it. Tyson was the one getting beat up and slowing down. He was the one that would slam into Holy. Holy counter punched Mike all night, he didn’t block and clinch. He slipped and fired back. Research the fight. Be honest with yourself. Watch the knockdown. Mike lunging in, Holy standing his ground, countering. I bet you bet on Mike in the rematch.
Holyfield using religion to get an edge on Mike rubbed me the wrong way. Mike paid his dues to society in jail and then came Holyfield with the ‘god is on my side stuff.’
I’m gonna check it out, then I’m gonna be honest as I can be with my assessment. I hope I’m right..lol.Comment

Thanks man. I’d love to hear ur latest assessment. Even if we still don’t see it the same, that’s just boxing, and a huge part of what drives the sport. I know sometimes it’s easy to give more credit to a huge underdog for “over performance” even if they aren’t winning. I have no problem having things pointed out to me that I might have missed. Especially in a civilized manner. These boards can get ugly. Always things to learn. I have a Twin and we aren’t always in lock step either. Stoked to have sum boxing back!Comment

Oh and I’m not a huge fan of “god is on my side” either. It’s interesting how u “god” never tells boxers to fight for charity lol. Still I think somehow Evander swaying back and forth with a stoic look on his face listening to gospel in the locker room is as intimidating as Tyson coming in wearing a towel to dmx.Comment
