perhaps, but 36 yr old alcoholic Kovalev also got ko'd by a much smaller Canelo, who to that point had never ko'd an elite fighter. His career is downhill from this point on.

Kovalev may or may not be drinking but one thing is for damn sure he hasn't been training. He posted a pic on IG the other day and looks like fat as hell.

Not surprising though. he's sitting on a nice chunk of change & he's way past his best days. What's the motivation to get up and work when boxing was shut down indefinitely? I also don't see anymore huge pay days for Kov unless he fights GGG or someone else popular coming way up or way down in weight

Watch how quickly all that money goes away when he has to pay his legal fees. Kovalev was a great fighter who could've been even better had his life outside the ring not damaged his pro career.

He is damaged goods after Ward broke him. He's never been the same. Plus he made a ton of money taking a dive in the Canelo fight.

I don't think it's really much of a joke though or a racist statement when Kovalev is a known boozer. It may be a Russian stereotype but he fits it to a tee!

Besides, I'm with Dave Chappelle about the racist jokes about black people and chicken and watermelon. Fried chicken and watermelon is great! I love chicken and watermelon and I'm not black so that racist stereotype was always BS to me, just a pathetic attempt by white supremacists to find something to criticize black folk for.

It actually is a racist and a stereotype, whether or not it is true.

It would be like saying "Barrera has not signed a contract yet, what is he? Robbing a place or in jail?"

Without a doubt Kovalev drank... because he could of, and in the age of social media it gets out quick... just look at Spence. But I do know when it comes to fight time and training, he puts it off and does what he needs to.

As far as why no date is set yet... well that would be a question for Golden Boy... NOT Kovalev.

And yes, I do think Kovalev knew he would lose the fight, whether he took the intentional fall or not... in much of the interview he knew he took the fight without enough rest in between but as he said in the media..."Took the money to provide for my family."
