Even before Covid-19, the competitive portfolio of Oscar vs Hearn continued to grow. In 2019 those two were at making headlines competing against each with their portfolios for DAZN matchmaking. GBP were the precursors of Hearn vs Haymon. Hearn vs Haymon to reference Wilder vs Joshua.
Many of us Canelo fans grew impatient with fighters pricing themselves out for fights with Canelo. It is what it is. You can try and exploit loopholes with purse bid rules but the reality is that those rules would affect star boxers vs non star boxers with splits, so of course promotional companies won't play the part and prefer to do alternate business because they can. It's been like this for a long time.
Many on here know my opinion with Hearn and his stable of fighters vs Canelo. Hearn been having GGG, Andrade, Jacobs, Ryder, Smith, BJS, Chavez Jr., Bivol.... He has a huge pool to just play political games. Each Matchroom fighter gets their own headline...lol
So then recently I felt, fck it, this conflict of interest with DAZN and Matchroom puts GBP in a funny situation, but the reality is that in the USA market GBP has the upper hand and the dollar matters, regardless if its global.
So, GBP can make alternative motives and do some stuff with Al Haymon. I don't think the Devry rumours were coincidence. I think GBP and Team Canelo need a partner, and Haymon has Plant, Benavidez, Devry and Dirrell...
Now IF GBP and Hearn are really having trouble securing fights, then I think Haymon sees a possible roadmap opportunity and have Benavidez cross over to DAZN for a fight with Canelo. But in order to do that, Canelo needs to beat Dirrell so that they can market Canelo vs Benavidez. It's good hype. Fans weren't saying Dirrell was ''old'' when he lost to a cut stoppage with Benavidez... Dirrell ain't about eyecut life...ask Paulie!
I think GBP deserves more credit since they are putting themselves in a situation to help promote a PBC roadmap for Haymon. I mean why not. I honestly think its Hearn and MTK Global just bullshettin with those Canelo negotiations. Even BJS says he lets MTK handle it all...
I like Matchroom, but I'm Team Canelo all the way, and so far Hearn's lower weight pool below Heavyweight are all acting like some hoes.
