Comments Thread For: Chisora: I'll Be All Over Usyk - I Won't Stop Chucking Leather

Heavyweight contender Derek Chisora plans to be all over Oleksandr Usyk when they finally meet in the ring. They were due to meet last month, but their contest was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the moment there is no new date and venue in play for the contest, which may need an audience to go forward.

Going hell for leather until the tank is empty is the only tactic for me for a Chisora win.

Anything past the 6/7 rounds and I think Usyk comes Into his own and beats him down...

You're probably right but it will tell us everything we need to know about Usyk at HW.

Usyk avoids all that leather and Chisora gets tired by the end of the 3rd. Then Usyk uses rounds 4/5 to jab away at Chisora annoying him while Chisora empties what he has left in the tank. By the 6th/7th round Usyk starts to land some power shots while still throwing the jabs. 8th/9th rounds we see Usyk really laying on his leather and Chisora is past survival mode. Usyk's footwork and quick hands help him finish off a tired and spent Chisora who gave it his all for 3 rounds.

The more I think about this fight, the more I feel this is an ideal bit of match making for Usyk.

I see an Usyk stoppage in 9.

Usyk is an intelligent fighter and his boxing IQ is above par if you compare him with his contemporaries. I don't see him standing still for Chisora to load on him like a punching bag. He will move and counter Chisora all night long. But Usyk's last performance as a heavyweight was terrible, I hope it was just a bad night at the box office. With that performance, if he allows Chisora to hit him like Witherspoon did, he is getting stopped. it is a 50:50 fight based on his last performance. He is the better fighter but this is boxing, the better fighter does not always win.

Exactly. With his size, I'm intrigued to see how he can adapt to HW. He certainly has the skillset to do well,

                  No problem whatsoever for Usyk.

That other English-Bum Joe Joyce came with the same game plan, and found out that Oleksandr has dog in him, the hard way. Joe, was fortunate that his fight with Usyk in the WBSS was only five rounds, because Oleksandr was going to brutally knock him out like Tony Bellew.
