It's hard to compare Leonard vs Hearns because Boxing was still a MAINSTREAM Sport in 1981. Ray Leonard for whatever it's worth was the next BIG star following Muhammad Ali along with him being an Olympic Gold Medalist, the Duran fights, etc. Crawford and Spence are the two top Welters in Boxing but without a fraction of the popularity to get the casual public behind them and or know on a 1st name basis. The problem I see is Al Haymon can put Spence in fights within that bubble for another calendar year. They're not concerned with Crawford until it's the only option, unfortunately.

Canelo I think is going to end up fully at Super Middleweight / Light Heavy by the time Spence gets to 160... and let's see how Crawford vs Spence ends up 1st.

You know wha happens to fighters who are KOed multiple times. Miles on the clock. Their punch resistance goes down.

A car crash would do the same.

I favour Bud too FWIW, although I'm a fan of both guys, but that ain't really got a great deal to do with the post I was replying to. As for whether the fight will happen or not and whether it's necessary to apportion blame if it doesn't... Well, that's a different question.

I've no doubt both dudes would be more than willing to fight each other, but the business and politics are liable to fux it up as usual I think, or at least marinade it til it's no longer really necessary.

Spence is also physically growing out of the Division. The problem with Crawford trying to fight any of those guys not named Spence is those guys aren't looking for fights with Crawford more than trying to fight "Their" (PBC) Champ in Spence. Personally, I don't need to see Crawford beat Spence or Danny Garcia to know he can "hang" with Spence. If both Al and Bob legit put this fight together for 2021 it would do NUMBERS but nothing Record Breaking.
I wouldn’t disagree with anything you said, well thought out.

Respect, even though I'm sure his team would prefer him taking a true tune up fight to get a gauge in where he is post-accident and if his punch resistance is still the same.

Anyone can throw hard punches with a modicum of training, man, what most people can't do is land hard punches against dudes who have trained their whole life to avoid em and who are also firing back.

Spence ain't got a whole lotta flash about him, you won't see much in the way of Floydesque shoulder rolls or Lomachenkos dancing feet, but what you will see is elite level fundamentals, a great understanding of range and top class punching technique... The essentials in other words, from which all else stems.

If you ain't seeing those things you're missing 90% of all that happens in a boxing match. Without getting the basics right all the rest, the fancy stuff, will get you nothing except KTFO in short order.
                God bless you brother

I'm A fan of Spence im glad he wants to come back and fight an elite opponent but I don't think he will be the same after that crash. I hope I'm wrong.
