Why does teddy insist that Tyson is 0-6

First of all there maybe something delusional going on. So Mike only fought 5 real opponents? Lennox, McBride, Williams, holyfield, Douglas.

Don't gimme that man, "and the rest were just sporting exhibitions".

Teddy says if you grow up hiding behind walls in the ****** he equates that with hiding in fights. He said this on the joe Rogan podcast.

So my point is, Tyson took every loss as a man. He was no defensive cutie like Mayweather, he had gaps in his defence just like every other fighter, look at the razor rudduck match: he got hit a lot but he got rid of him in seven.

Now Tyson, himself says he takes ownership of knowing he takes a great punch. Against Donovan he was eating them like m n ms. But don't get me wrong. He had a thick neck and a heck of a chin. To say he only participated in 6 only fights is just ridiculous.

He tasted many peoples punches and never backed down, his battles were won in the gym. To execute them showed brilliance on cus/ Mike's part. To throw those wicked combos is like the saying "cry in the dojo, laugh in the ring'' it was cold and CALCULATED.

Tyson once said he can't remember who hit him the hardest but teddy is dead wrong here. He showed a ton of heart! Again Tyson said 'what am I supposed to do? Ring every bodies door bell and get them to punch me." That way he could self admit who hit him the hardest in a match.

I don't believe Tyson used "hiding" as one of his techniques, instead I question Teddy's reason to pull off a gun near teen Tyson's ear. Tyson said the real reason he confessed was because teddy wanted him (Tyson) to come to Brooklyn NY, because teddy wasn't the star anymore at Catskills. Mike even said " if it was over a girl, he was lying" look at a young Tyson said if the roles were reversed he wouldn't have left the shot off as a miss, he woulda connected. Again something's not right here...

I hate to pull revisionist historian, but did Tyson even NEED to apologise to atlas'? Just my 2 cents on my favorite hw and fighter.

And btw, what do you think of this 0 and 6 bit?

    he is right though.

Tyson has never come back in a back and forth fight or win a rematch.

Even modern heavyweights with thin resumes have done that. Fury Wilder 1. Wilder was down. Comes back and puts Fury down twice to tie the fight. That's a comeback. same with the Ortiz fights.

Joshua rematches Ruiz right away and wins the rematch. and came back against Klitschko after being down.

Wlad Klit got knocked down 3 times by Sam Peters and won the fight.

Holyfield, Lennox, Bowe have all done this

Not Tyson though. Tyson is the epitome of a mental midget.

He said a fight isn't a fight if there's nothing to overcome. Maybe, but what do you mean by "something to overcome"? Tyson overcame a lot to become what he became, from his bsckground to his respiratory issues to his significant size disadvantage at at heavyweight to his mental issues and lack of self esteem. To accomplish what he accomplished as a 21 year old at 5'10 in an era of some pretty big heavyweights is an incredible feat of will and determination.

Mike had his issues later in his career and obviously found a way out against Holyfield in the second fight but so what? Duran quit too, you're not in the ring getting your brain scarred, it's the fighter who's taking all the damage. And against Douglas and Lewis he fought bravely until he couldn't possibly fight anymore trying to throw bombs from start to finish. There's clearly a personal agenda here on Teddy's part despite Mike apologizing to him about whatever happened between them 40 years ago and Teddy just doesn't seem to want to let go.

Atlas is pretty extreme on Tyson, and he does exaggerate, but there's truth in what he says.

First off, I've never bought the contrarian idea that Tyson is actually really smart. I listened to his whole Joe Rogan interview and no, he's not a clever guy. He's in his fifties and seems to just now be coming around to the idea that his upbringing might have been unusual and unhealthy, and that maybe that's why his personal life has always been a disaster. It took 53 years and two blunts for him to take the first baby steps toward being reflective. In the same interview he swore off ever returning to boxing, saying it would be a terrible idea mentally and physically for him, and now he's posting training clips and trying to land a fight. He's impulsive and short-sighted, and those haven't improved much with age.

Lots of boxers have had sad ends to their careers, but few are more pitiful than Tyson on his butt, having been knocked down by Kevin McBride. Getting counted out, fully aware, not because he can't get up, but because he wanted to quit.

He did have some tough wars where he had to out-slug the guy, but he never pulled off an upset or came from behind. He never got off the deck to win a fight, or even finish a fight. He never made a clear mid-fight adjustment to try to win, even when it was clear he was losing. If things weren't going his way he'd keep slugging, hoping for his power to bail him out, but he wasn't really trying to win so much as save face.

He's just not someone who seems to have it in him to truly overcome something, or accomplish something that's really hard for him. He likes boxing when he's winning and it's easy. If it's not easy, then it's not fun anymore and he wants to quit.

Teddy atlas has had his beef with Tyson going on over 35 years now.

All of this crap about oh Tyson was just a bully and if you could just stand up to him, then you could win the fight. Someone tell me how you can bully dozens of top 10 contenders, champions or former champions, these are all pro boxers and at the top of the sport. If you knock out a top 10 ranked heavyweight, its not bullying, its just doing his job and doing it well. For *** sake they try to make it sound like he was in there knocking out 12 year old school girls or something.

How old was Tyson when he won the title? 19? At that age I was still hanging out with no mission in life. He was top of the boxing world.

Mike had quit in him, the aggression and anger would keep it locked away until he was pushed to the point then it came out..
