Comments Thread For: Fury Co-Trainer Andy Lee: Breland Saved Wilder's Career With By Throwing In Towel

Deontay Wilder had already suffered two knockdowns earlier and was trapped in a corner as Tyson Fury was unleashing a brutal beating during the seventh round in their rematch in February.

And that loser turns around and fires him. Shows Wilder can't take responsibility for not knowing how to box. The man saves him and Wilder straight sold him out, real class act. At least he is off that sinking ship now. Pot smoking woman beating Wilder is through.

“I think [Wilder’s corner] did the right thing [to throw in the towel],” Lee told BoxingScene.com in an interview. “I think Mark Breland did an excellent job. He might have saved Deontay’s career because you can’t take a sustained beating like that from a man of Tyson Fury’s size. He was punching with authority.” - Andy Lee

No arguments here. Salute to Mark Breland!

i hope you keep that same energy and tone for other fighters too, and btw i think he took Breland back.

thats one thing i give wilder credit for is he was not looking for a way out like Joshua, but maybe thats because Fury doesn't have the same sting as Ruiz, who knows.

Wilder should be thanking the man he isn't suffering from any more brain damage. Just saying. Anyway take your own advice, after all just look at the name you use.

But shows wilder is tough to take it and comeback

I've not yet heard from fury just how well he thinks he connected.I'm wondering if the kind of punches he landed on wilder would have koed his other opponents and if his other opponent have gone down. From less than what wilder took?

With the ease in which Fury were beginning to land, he saved more than his career..

towel went in at the right time and deserves praise for doing it rather than some of the stick he's had to face.

Wilders instant reaction (from memory) looked to me more of frustration with himself than shock of a towel thrown in.

I'm sure if you'd ask him he would have rather stayed and got sparko than look as if his team's packed up, but they just saved him from what could have been serious harm...

I agree, I think a sickening knockout was imminent.
