  • Comments Thread For: Porter: I Don't Know If Crawford Fight Makes Sense Right Now

A showdown with unbeaten pound-for-pound entrant Terence Crawford as a next option for Shawn Porter certainly makes sense, although the question at this point remains whether it will make dollars. The former two-time welterweight titlist remains an integral part of the 147-pound division. It's a place he's long ago earned due to his willingness to take on all comers. The downside to that is-absent running back a few fights-you quickly run out of options, particularly if you are not at the top.

The very fact that he thinks FOX needs to be included should be a dead giveaway that the fight was never viable.

People act like Crawford is "running" from these fights. It's clear as day that in order for Crawford to fight anyone from Al's stable it'll have to be on PPV and the only fight that's going to move the needle is either Danny or Spence. Danny alone has almost gone out of his way to not even mention Crawford. Al knows he has that division on lock and can match Spence with Danny and even giving Thurman a 2nd shot before fighting Crawford. I don't think they're really as concerned of making that fight than Bob and Crawford are who have no real viable options. I suppose in the same fashion that people are saying Crawford made a mistake signing with Bob, what can we say for Jermall Charlo's Middleweight Career under PBC? This is Boxing in the Modern Day.

All these guys talk about wanting title shots, well, here it is, but now we have excuses. Uncle Al has his welters on strict lock down.

Interesting statement "the PBC has welters on lock down", I would go further and say Al has all fighters on lock down. Unfortunately Al, "manager" has fighters on lock-down for his own good, not the fighters. AL and the PBC need to keep fulfilling network contracts that he guaranteed content and that is all he is concerned with. The fighters and their promoters have no obligation to networks and when can do much better outside Al's reach but they are not allowed, it's simply not tolerated.

If you look at the facts objectively, Charlo lost millions and Wilder arguably lost hundreds of millions. Signing with the PBC guarantees nothing. Spence never got a shot at the top earners, he couldn't get near Thurman or Manny. Unfortunately, Al will NOW give everyone a shot at Spence because he's damaged goods, he's played out, and Al will cash in on him. I'm sorry but the PBC, IMO seems to be about AL Haymon's profits and how he works and controls his salves.

Crawford vs. Porter should be the co-main event for Wilder vs. Fury 3! It's already a joint venture, so ****e it up. If not Crawford vs. Porter, then GRJ vs. Stevenson will do just fine too! That's how you give value for $80!

He's in the same boat, and he should join DAZN with a guarantee to fight GGG or Canelo ASAP!
