  • Comments Thread For: Hearn: There Is No DAZN Situation; Meeting Friday To Discuss Upcoming Schedule

Eddie Hearn has acknowledged that the days of completely overpaying prominent boxers just to get them to fight on DAZN probably are long gone. The British promoter still thinks the streaming service's imminent demise has been greatly exaggerated. When asked about "the DAZN situation" while conducting an Instagram Live chat Tuesday, Hearn revealed that there is a plan in place to start discussing fights DAZN will schedule or reschedule.

For the posters who are delighted about the demise of DAZN, I hope it’s true so they can rejoin, I know they were wrong when they said no of note would sign for an app. Then they saw the biggest name cut his own deal with that app. And they just couldn’t take it. So I hope this news doesn’t kill them.

Overpayment of fighters is what got DAZN in trouble. The money they offered Canelo was way too much, they could of paid Canelo that money if his fight were on PPV, that's the only way you could justify and recoup those purses, same goes for GGG. In this type of streaming service, the max amount Canelo should of gotten is around 20 million a fight, while GGG purses should be around 5 to 10 million a fight. I mean these guys are paying guys like Andrade, Garcia, 3 to 7 million per fight, that is bad business, guys like Andrade should make about 1 million per fight unless he's fighting a high caliber opponents, Garcia got 7 million to fight I Vargas, come on now that's ridiculous, 1 to 2 million should of been top dollar. Those purses have to come down if they want to get back on track, and I'd suggest putting Canelo on PPV, where non- subscribers pay $60 and subscribers get a discount, maybe around $30 or so to watch the fight. As far as GGG that IDK, he's grossly overpaid and he really doesn't sell PPV unless he fights Canelo ir maybe Charlo, IDK what DAZN was thinking there.

Ggg strategically waited for canelo to sign with an entity to then sell himself to the same for the third fight which DAZN bought... ggg has been selling himself to his fans his whole career, at this point ggg is the biggest ********** in the game... but hey it’s working for him I’m not even hating get that money

Hard times all around. I criticised the crappy fights, but I never wanted none. Even the predators, uh, promoters are moaning.

They wildly-overpaid for Canelo and then compounded the problem by giving a $100MM to an aging GGG. Very bad business decisions. Even John Skipper realizes this now. The only way DEAD ZONE can survive is if Joshua fights and beats Fury within the next twelve months, something that will never happen. Meanwhile, Uncle Al and PBC are humming along. And it's killing you drunken Brits!
