Not sure it's about memes - as in replicating or multiplying units of information, concepts or ideas (as coined by Dawkins) - rather than simply socio economic factors. Poverty tends to beget physical hardship, overcrowding, and violent competition over scarce resources. Basically the more poverty and especially the greater inequality the more valuable a trait the ability to fight becomes.

Surely why the majority of boxers always talk about how hard they had it growing up (not all but certainly in the history of the sport)...... I just don't see that kind of poverty nowadays in the UK..... certainly not Aberdeen with the second-highest average-wage behind London.

My grandparents grew up in tenement flats with shared toilets and the like, one of them grew up on a farm during WW2 and used to tell me stories about waking up with their jeans frozen stiff..... real hardy people.

I had new football boots every year and never went hungry or cold lol never worried about running out of money for electricity or gas etc

I would say that's true in most cases but not all, doesn't explain Irish people at all. Although it is still a poor man's sport. Plus africa sucks.

Ramirez/Postol could be Taylor's last fight at 140 - providing Josh beats the Thai dude. And at 147 Taylor won't be short of huge names to challenge. Taylor is a guy that likes to *fight* so there are some cracking fan-friendly match ups to be made. Maybe a couple of lesser names to bed in at WW, then it could be his Top Rank stablemate, Mr TC.
Or he gets cabbaged by 'the Thai dude' and all of his plans got to pot

WHOLE lot of dog in Taylor and I wouldn’t be the bit surprised if he beats Ramirez but it’s any mans fight. It’ll come down to just that I think, who has the more dog in them, I don’t know much about joshs background or how he grew up but Jose comes from a very hard working family and he himself had to put in some very tough work to help make a living under very tough conditions so the dog was inherited through hard work and boxing is probably child’s play to that man.. but you can tell josh has that dog in him too... it’ll be a fun fight

This fight won't be competitive at all.

I see Ramirez bashing Josh Taylor's head in.
